How Does Asclera Work?
Asclera is a sclerosing agent that is injected into the affected veins. It works by damaging the cell lining inside of blood vessels, thus provoking blood platelets and cellular debris to attach to the lining of the vessels. This buildup of cellular debris and platelets will cause the blood vessel to clot. Over time, the clotted vein will be replaced with tissue and the vein will fade and becomes less prominent.
Are the Results Immediate?
Most patients see results after approximately 2-3 sessions, spaced a month apart. Depending on the severity of your issue, it can take between 1-3 months to see results. For optimal and long lasting results, it is essential to wear compression stockings for at least 1 week following the Asclera procedure.
Does it Hurt?
Asclera is a virtually painless procedure. Other than the initial prick of the needle entering the vein, patients find they experience minimal discomfort during each 15-minute procedure. For the first 48 hours following treatment, we recommend you avoid vigorous exercise or standing up for extended periods of time. For optimal results, daily walking of at least 15-20 minutes starting the first day, immediately after injection, and for a few days after treatment is also recommended.
